A is For amplifies art and artists that work to end the stigma against abortion. Now in our 10th year of stigma-busting work, A is For has evolved into a growing, ever-creating nonprofit organization that brings together artists and activists.
And, now we want to hear from you, all of the artists who are passionate about abortion access reproductive rights, and bodily autonomy. Art is a powerful tool for change, and A is For wants to amplify your work to further eradicate stigma, elevate the human experience of abortion, and promote artists who can dispel myths and misconceptions. We want to change the way people think about abortion and reproductive justice.
So, we’d love to feature your stories, photographs, paintings, short films, or crocheted doilies — whatever you’re creating that is centered around abortion and/or reproductive rights, justice, or freedom.

SHINYEON MOON
COMIC BOOK ARTIST FOR BUCKLE UP
ShinYeon Moon is an illustrator-educator based in New York. Moon holds an M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in Illustration as Visual Essay. She has taught at the School of Visual Arts and Fashion Institute of Technology. She has received accolades from different illustration publications including 3x3 Magazine, Society of Illustrators, and Communication Arts.

ISHITA JAIN
COMIC BOOK ARTIST FOR BUCKLE UP
Ishita Jain is an illustrator and designer based in New York though she is originally from Delhi, India. She loves drawing on location and enjoys documenting the people, places and stories that surround her. Ishita is an alumnus of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India and the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay Program at the School of Visual Arts, New York. Clients include The New York Times, Penguin Random House, Bloomsbury USA, Princeton Architectural Press and Sephora among others.

CAROLITA JOHNSON
COMIC BOOK ARTIST FOR BUCKLE UP
Carolita Johnson is a cartoonist at The New Yorker magazine, as well as a freelance essayist and storyteller. She is multiracial, non-binary, and goes by pronouns she/her. She is currently writing a wildly fictional autobiography based on the bewildering lies her South American family has lived with while deliberately erasing the truth.

DANA CHEN
COMIC BOOK ARTIST FOR BUCKLE UP
Dana Chen is an illustrator and graphic designer. For over 10 years, she’s been helping people and brands tell their stories visually, by making images and creative typography. In her freetime, Dana helps free-roaming cats in her neighborhood get spayed and neutered. She lives in Southern California with her partner.

ANGELA J. DAVIS

Angela J. Davis is the author of The Spanish Prayer Book (The Road Theatre Company 2019-20 season; L.A. Times Best Bet (“a literate meditation on the boundaries of art and social responsibility”), AGATHE (2020 New American Voices Award - The Landing Theatre, 2021 SETC Getchell Award for Outstanding Full-Length Play, 2021 Jane Chambers Award Finalist and Honoree), Clara and Serra and The Talking Bear (commissioned in 2020 by Antaeus Theatre Company), and Griswold (2021 Arts & Letters Prize Finalist and National Women’s Theatre Festival Official Selection) among other plays. n goes here

GLORIA MAJULE
Second Place Winner of Our 2021-2022 Play Contest
Gloria Majule is a playwright from Dodoma, Tanzania presently residing in Seattle, WA. Gloria seeks to tell stories that bring multiple black voices together from across the world, and are accessible to black audiences no matter where they are. She writes primarily for and about the black diaspora. She holds an MFA in Playwriting from Yale School of Drama and graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a BA in Performing & Media Arts and Spanish.

ALLI HARTLEY-KONG
Third Place Winner of Our 2021-2022 Play Contest
Alli Hartley-Kong is a playwright, poet, and public history activist. She has written short plays and monologues produced by Irvington Theatre (Irvington, NY), Open Eye Theatre (Margaretville, NY), The Barn Theatre (Montville, NJ), Apollo Civic Theatre (Martinsburg West Virginia), Fusion Theatre (New Mexico). She has received commissions from Single Carrot Theatre (Baltimore, MD) and Central Square Theatre (Boston MA).

GENERAL GUIDELINES
STORIES AND ARTICLES: If you are submitting a written piece, please provide a maximum of 1,200 words.
IMAGE OR VIDEO: If you are submitting an image of your work, we ask that it be in a jpeg or png file that is no larger than 10MB. For videos, you may send a link (Youtube/Dropbox/Vimeo)
ACCEPTANCE/NOTIFICATION: We will be accepting submissions on a rolling basis. Within two weeks of submission, we will notify you via email of your post’s acceptance or rejection. If accepted, we will provide you with the publication date on our website, and A is For social media channels, and notify you of any recommended edits.
