A is For Action. Now.

Abortion is still legal. A final decision has NOT been issued. 

Abortion clinics are open, and if you have an appointment, keep it.  

After the news broke Monday night, many of us were left feeling devastated and shocked. Today, it is time to get to work. Here’s what YOU can do to protect abortion access: 

1. Donate to an abortion fund. Abortion funds provide crucial financial assistance across the country so that people can access safe, abortion care. Learn more at the National Network of Abortion Funds website. 

2. Donate to practical support organizations like The Brigid Alliance and the Midwest Access Coalition. The Brigid Alliance arranges and funds confidential, personalized travel support to those seeking abortion care in increasingly hostile environments. In 2021 The Brigid Alliance supported 918 clients get to their abortion appointments. The Midwest Access Coalition helps people traveling to, from, and within the Midwest to access safe, legal abortion, and also supports with travel, costs, lodging, food, medicine, and emotional support.

3. Donate to Local Independent Abortion Providers. Independent clinics serve three out of every five patients who have an abortion in the U.S. each year. Support independent providers by donating to Keep Our Clinics.

4. Educate yourself about self medicated abortion. Organizations like Aid Access and Plan C provide information as well as abortion pills to those who need them. 

5. Call your Senator! Find your senator through the link at www.senate.gov. You may phone the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request. Postal correspondence can be addressed as follows: Office of Senator (Name), United States Senate, Washington, D.C. 20510. 

6. Amplify pro-abortion messages, organizations, and people doing the work. It is important that pro-abortion messaging is visible. We all know someone who has had an abortion, and further we KNOW that more than 70% of Americans are in favor of abortion rights. Show up and use your voice.

7. Vote. Make a plan to vote in every municipal, local, state, and federal election. Also, do what you can to assist disenfranchised voters to get to the polls. Voting is being made more difficult than ever, and it is more important than ever. 

8. Volunteer at an abortion clinic. Call your local abortion clinic and inquire about becoming a Clinic Escort. Clinic Escorts support abortion patients as they arrive, and enter the clinic for their appointments. You can find your local clinic on the Abortion Care Network website.
