On August 16th, our own Martha Plimpton received the inaugural Luminous Uterus ChangemakeHER Award from MamaFilm as part of their virtual rePRO Film Festival.
“Plimpton will be the first recipient of this award, which recognizes an exceptional individual who has provided a significant contribution towards the fight for women’s reproductive healthcare, including education, awareness and activism.”
The rePro Film Festival was a five day event showcasing films about reproductive health and the politics around it.
“Through various lenses – and by harnessing the power of cinema as a catalyst for connection and conversation – rePRO presented by mama.film, explores the past, present, and future of women’s and AFAB people's reproductive healthcare, awareness, advocacy and bodily integrity in America.”
There were related speakers and interviews throughout, including an hour-long conversation between Martha and the amazing Ariana DeBose, who recently became a member of the A is For Board of Directors.
mama.film was founded by Lela Meadow-Conner in 2019 to create a platform that connects nurturers and caregivers around the world, through on-screen storytelling. rePRO Film Festival, a project of mama.film was co-founded by Meadow-Conner, Mallory Martin and Debby Samples.
